I'm working on reframing the idea of "staying in my chair". My most generative writing days are days I'm writing all day long - but often in just one minute, or five minute, or ten minute bursts. Sometimes just a sentence or a few words. But allowing myself, when those ideas come to me, to stop what I'm doing and jot them down, or type them into an email on my phone, or record a quick voice memo if I can't pause to write at that exact moment. Sitting down to write for extended periods of time doesn't always work for me, but it's amazing how words and entire scenes add up by just being available to pay attention to ideas as they come, no matter when they come.
After the first or second session I subscribed to Pacemaker when it was suggested by a speaker. Since word count helps me stay in the chair (first draft) I found this website a motivator. Thanks so much for my daily fix of craft talks.
