Of all the novels I've read in 2023 so far, Terra Nova is the best. And I loved this podcast, hearing Michelle's great questions and Henriette's honest answers. That's what always strikes me about HL, her honesty--about her process, her intentions, her self doubts. It makes us feel we're OK in all the efforts we make as writers.
I recently read Terra Nova, and it is brilliant, a master class in so many elements of the novel: POV, narrative distance, immediacy, pacing, diction, syntax, world-building, etc. It's also just a great story.
Henriette always seems like she's just having the time of her life and it is so contagious. I love this so much.
Yes! I know!

Yes, she's wonderful! And to have such an excellent book come out of such a good person, it's really a delight.
Terra Nova is a captivating book, and this discussion of first pages is a great lesson in going forward for all writers.

Absolutely. An amazing achievement.
